Kentucky Youth Chorale

Our Mission:
The Kentucky Youth Chorale is an inclusive young singer’s choral program that interweaves purposeful and sequential music instruction with performance and travel.

About Us
The Kentucky Youth Chorale began in January 2008, through collaboration with the Institute for Young Musicians and the Owensboro Symphony Academy and is based in Owensboro, KY. KYC is directed by Mrs. Julie White, recent recipient of the Governor’s Awards in the Arts.

Students from all area schools — some as far away as Breckenridge County and southern Indiana — audition for this select group, which is a musical ambassador for western Kentucky and the state.

The Kentucky Youth Chorale program is modeled after the famed Indianapolis Children's Chorus, which has 2,300 students enrolled in eight feeder choirs. It is the goal of the Kentucky Youth Chorale to double its enrollment to 100 students
before 2012.

KYC Preparatory Choir (Ages 8-10)
The Kentucky Youth Chorale is a 501(C)(3), non-profit organization that provides children the opportunity to participate in choral groups at all levels of ability. Known for their performances with the OSO, as well as tour performances both regionally and internationally, KYC encourages you to consider enrolling your child(ren) in their young singers program. The KYC Preparatory Choir is designed for children ages 8 to 10. This non-competitive program focuses on artistry, arts education, building community and self-esteem. Both choirs are conducted by professionally-trained, highly motivated musicians.

The learning environment is creative and explorative. This enables our youth to enjoy lasting relationships with other children, experience self-growth through musical insight and self-expression, and develop a lifelong involvement with music while enhancing all aspects of their lives.
